Business days calculator
Count working days with selectable weekdays, endpoint rules and your own holiday dates.
How it works & useful details
How it works & limits
Choose a forward date range, which endpoints to include, working weekdays and any holidays you want excluded. No public holiday calendar is assumed or downloaded.
Holiday dates use YYYY-MM-DD, separated by commas or whitespace. Duplicate holidays count once. Holidays on already non-working weekdays or outside the selected range do not subtract twice. Limit: 500 holiday entries and a range of 36,600 days. Calendar dates are unaffected by DST.

About this tool
Business days calculator counts working days between two dates while letting you define which weekdays count and which dates are holidays. It is useful for estimating deadlines, SLAs, and delivery windows.
You also control whether the start and end dates are included in the count, so the result matches how your team words deadlines. Holiday lists are entered by you and stay local to the page.
How to use it
- Choose the start and end dates.
- Select which weekdays count as working days.
- Add holiday dates to exclude from the count.
- Pick the endpoint rule and read the working-day total.
Worked example
September 2026 runs from Tuesday 1 to Wednesday 30. Counting Monday to Friday with both endpoints included gives 22 weekdays. Entering Labor Day, 2026-09-07, as a holiday leaves 21 working days. The report also shows the 8 weekend days that were skipped, so you can check the total: 21 + 8 + 1 = 30 dates.
Endpoint rules and custom work weeks
Whether the start and end dates count is the most common source of off-by-one disagreements. A delivery promised "within 5 business days" of an order usually excludes the order day. A leave request from Monday to Friday usually includes both. Choose the endpoint options to match the rule you are applying, and state it when you share the result.
Working weekdays are selectable, so the calculator also fits Sunday-to-Thursday weeks, four-day weeks, or shift patterns. Public holidays vary by country, region, and sometimes employer, so none are assumed. Paste your own dates in YYYY-MM-DD form. Duplicates, and holidays that fall on weekends, are never subtracted twice.
Frequently asked questions
Does it include public holidays automatically?
No. Holiday rules differ by country and year, so you supply the dates you want excluded.
What do the endpoint rules change?
They decide whether the start and end dates themselves count, or whether the range is treated as exclusive.
Are weekends fixed to Saturday and Sunday?
No. You choose which weekdays count, so other regional work weeks are possible.
Does daylight saving time affect the count?
No. The calculator works with calendar dates, not hours, so a 23- or 25-hour day during a clock change still counts as one day.
