How it works & supported files

Convert a static WebP to JPEG

Choose the JPEG quality and background color. JPEG cannot store transparency, so transparent pixels are placed on that background.

Static images, processed on your device

Supports static PNG, 8-bit grayscale/RGB JPEG, and static WebP as listed by this tool. Animation, SVG, HEIC, AVIF, and CMYK JPEG are not supported. EXIF orientation is applied before editing. Re-encoding removes source metadata and color profiles, can change colors, and reduces high-bit-depth images to browser canvas output. JPEG and WebP output may change pixels. For transparency, choose PNG or WebP. Outputs are limited to 100 MiB.

About this tool

WebP to JPG converts a static WebP image into JPEG with a quality setting and a background color for transparent areas. It is the fix when a service only accepts JPEG uploads.

The conversion is performed locally, and because JPEG has no alpha channel, transparency is flattened onto the color you choose. Source metadata and color profiles are not carried over.

How to use it

  1. Choose the static WebP image.
  2. Set the JPEG quality level.
  3. Pick the background color that replaces transparency.
  4. Convert and download the JPEG.

Why convert WebP to JPEG

Images saved from websites are often WebP, because it is smaller. Some destinations still expect JPEG: older photo editors, print shops, government and job-application upload forms, some email clients, and document templates. Converting gives you a file that opens everywhere.

Choose quality 85โ€“92 for a good balance. WebP images are already lossy, so a very high JPEG quality mostly preserves the existing artifacts rather than adding detail, while a low quality stacks a second round of loss on top.

Transparency

WebP can be transparent and JPEG cannot. Transparent areas are filled with the background colour you pick, white by default. For logos and stickers that must stay transparent, convert to PNG instead.

Animated WebP files are not supported, because JPEG can only hold a single still image.

Frequently asked questions

Will the JPEG be smaller than the WebP?

Not necessarily. WebP is usually more efficient at the same quality, so the JPEG may be larger even though it is lossy.

What happens to transparent pixels?

They are filled with the chosen background color, since JPEG cannot store transparency.

Are animated WebP files supported?

No. Only static WebP images are supported; animation frames are not preserved.

Will the dimensions change?

No. The JPEG has exactly the same width and height as the WebP.
