How to use this tool
Enter basic Latin watermark text and choose its color, angle, opacity, and font size. The centered watermark is drawn over page content; long text shrinks to fit. Rotated pages and crop boxes are respected. A watermark does not prevent copying or editing and is not a digital signature.
Limits and document support
Use an unencrypted PDF with 1–500 pages and a size below 50 MiB. Interactive forms are not supported; export a flattened copy first. Saving rewrites the PDF and invalidates digital signatures. Unusual document features may not survive rewriting; inspect the downloaded result.
About this tool
Watermark PDF places centered text such as "Draft", "Confidential", or a company name across all or selected pages. Color, angle, opacity, and font size are adjustable, and long text shrinks automatically to fit the page.
The watermark is drawn over the existing content, so it is a visual marking rather than a security measure: it does not prevent copying or editing and is not a digital signature. The document is processed locally and never uploaded.
How to use it
- Choose one unencrypted PDF file.
- Enter basic Latin watermark text and pick a color, angle, opacity, and font size.
- Select the pages to mark, or leave the selection blank for every page.
- Select Add watermark and download the marked PDF.
Worked example
"DRAFT" in grey, rotated 45°, at 25% opacity across all pages is the classic draft watermark. The text is centred on each page and scaled down if it is too long to fit. For documents you share with a specific recipient, text such as "Copy for Acme Ltd – 2026-09-24" makes a leaked copy traceable to its source.
What a watermark does and does not do
A visible watermark communicates status (DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, SAMPLE, COPY) and discourages casual reuse. It does not stop copying: the watermark is an extra layer drawn on the page, and a determined person can remove it with a PDF editor or crop around it. For real protection, limit who receives the file, and use a digital signature to prove authenticity.
- Use 15–30% opacity so the content stays readable.
- Watermarks sit on top of the content, so very dark colours or high opacity can hide text.
- Rotated pages and crop boxes are respected, so the mark stays centred on the visible page.
- Only basic Latin characters are supported in the watermark text.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use non-Latin characters or a logo?
The watermark accepts basic Latin text only, and images are not supported. Non-Latin scripts and logo graphics are not available in this tool.
Is the watermark removable?
Because the watermark is drawn on top of the page content, someone with PDF editing software can attempt to remove it. Use it to label documents, not to protect them.
